Yusuf Dikec stole the limelight in the ongoing Olympics. The 51 year old became a global sensation and icon, and of course the source of several memes and social media content, post his spectacular performance at the Paris Olympics 2024. Yusuf won a silver medal in the mixed team 10-metre air pistol event alongside Sevval Ilayda Tarhan.
The Internet could not hold its excitement seeing the Turkish shooter‘s confidence in the global sports event.
Days after the victory, another video of the shooter is going viral over social media. In the video we see the 9 year old daughter of Yusuf.
Dikec’s nine-year-old daughter, Basak, reveals in the video, as shared by Turkey’s Medya Midas, about the tips she shared with him ahead of the Olympics.
In the video, the dad and daughter share heartwarming moments where the daughter says she gave him tactics and motivation in case he felt lost or upset.

Explaining how he needs to take a breath and release it; and as all his breath is released he pulls the trigger. That way his hands don’t shake,” a X.com user “TheFigen” has shared on social media.

“If I had won the gold medal in this Olympics, I was thinking of quitting. But now we will get the gold medal in Los Angeles in 2028 and then I will quit. Because we are very good…,” he told the media.

Yusuf, who began competing in shooting in 2021, studied at the Gazi University School of Physical Training and Education (Ankara, TUR) and received a Master’s in Coaching from the Selcuk University. He is a five time Olympian and has participated in 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2024.
“I am very happy that we have won the first Olympic medal in the history of the republic to my country of 85 million people who sent us off with their prayers. This medal belongs to the REPUBLIC OF TURKEY,” he posted on Instagram post his win.
