Not only can intense summer heat be uncomfortable, but in extreme cases, it can even be fatal. It’s critical to take the necessary precautions to keep the body cool when the mercury rises to dangerous levels and poses a threat to the body’s natural temperature regulating mechanism.

Heat stroke occurs when the body overheats to deadly temperatures because it is unable to naturally cool itself. Vital organs such as the kidney, heart, or brain may be seriously threatened if the body’s “internal thermostat” runs out of control.

How can you tell whether heat stroke is causing trouble to your body?

One must pay close attention to warning signs. Feelings like nausea, dizziness, fast heartbeat, confusion, and hot, dry skin are signs that the heat is overwhelming your body’s ability to regulate its temperature.

To prevent heat stroke, wear light clothing, drink lots of water, and use sunscreen. Avoid going outside between the hours of 10am and 4pm and instead attempt to go outside early in the morning or late at night.
