Upasana Kamineni Konidela, the vice chairman of CSR Apollo Hospitals Group and MD, URLife, highlighted that many ambitious women in India, who prioritise their careers, often neglect their biological clocks. When they eventually decide to start a family, they face challenges.

Upasana, who is married to actor Ram Charan, shared that she opted to freeze her eggs early in her marriage with the RRR actor. She also hoped that companies would enable female employees to freeze eggs using insurance funds.

“Corporate India needs to adapt to better support women. POSH committees have been beneficial in this regard. I’m collaborating with companies to introduce flexible maternity leave policies. Additionally, I advocate for women to have the option to preserve their eggs through insurance,” she mentioned.

In the same interview, Ram Charan expressed his admiration for his wife’s unconditional support. “Whether managing our family affairs or making impactful contributions to her philanthropic duties, she excels in every role with her unwavering dedication and strong family values. Upasana has gracefully upheld her family’s legacy. Beyond being my wife, she’s my pillar of strength, the glue that binds us. I could never replicate her achievements, as she has carved out her remarkable path,” Ram Charan shared.

In a 2023 interview with Mid-Day, Upasana disclosed her decision to delay motherhood until she attained financial stability. She chose to freeze her eggs to keep the option of motherhood open for the future. “When women are financially ready to have children, it benefits both them and the nation’s progress. I also preserved my eggs, and I’m pleased to say that Ram and I decided to start a family when we felt financially secure,” she added.

The couple joyfully welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Klin Kaara Konidela, in 2023. They were also recently spotted attending the pre-wedding celebrations of Reliance Industries heir Anant Ambani and his fiancée Radhika Merchant.
