Social media users up in arms over balcony rental…
A recent rental listing for a balcony in Sydney has sparked outrage on social media.
The listing, which appeared on Facebook Marketplace, offered a balcony described as a “sunny room” for $969 a month, including bills.
Photos from the listing showcased a tiled, enclosed balcony with amenities like blinds, rugs, a mirror, a single bed, and a chest of drawers.
The space, part of an apartment in Sydney’s Haymarket, included glass sliding doors and floor-to-ceiling windows.
The tenant would share a bathroom with only one other person. The two-bedroom apartment connected to the balcony was listed separately for AUD 1,300 a week, excluding bills.
The listing quickly went viral on social media with users lashing at the advertisement.
This incident highlights the broader housing crisis in Sydney as the Australian city ranks as the 11th most expensive city in the world for high-net-worth individuals, according to Swiss private bank Julius Baer.
