The star-studded wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant not only featured global celebrities, business tycoons, and politicians, but an array of gastronomical delights.

A video from the July 12 wedding of industrialist Mukesh Ambani and philanthropist Nita Ambani’s youngest son Anant with pharmaceutical heiress Radhika shows multiple food counters with placards as guests enjoy the mouth-watering spread. The name cards on some of the counters read Odette, II Borro and Bukhara.

According to several media reports, the lavish spread offered a blend of traditional Indian delicacies and exotic global cuisines. From creamy rabri, refreshing lassi, to extravagant treats like caviar served atop tiramisu, the menu was every food lover’s dream.

Rameshwaram Café’s butter, ghee and garlic dosa as well as Anant’s favourite Pesarattu – a green gram dosa originating in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka’s famous Thatte Idli, a selection of puran poli varieties served with a Spicy Usal Vada were also on offer.

The event also featured a wide selection of chaats, made by teams flown in from Varanasi to ensure authentic taste. Top chefs such as the team behind the world’s best restaurant – Central in Peru — and Goan food maestro like Chef Avinash Martins also prepared a selection of signature dishes.

Anant and Radhika’s marriage on Friday culminated months of pre-wedding events.

The attendees included Bollywood icons Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Ranbir Kapoor; cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav. Former British Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson; and Saudi Aramco CEO Amin H Nasser were also on the guest list. Politicians who attended the wedding included Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, his deputies Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, his wife Dimple and Shiv Sena (UBT) head Uddhav Thackeray.

Shankaracharya of Dwarka Peeth Swami Sadananda Saraswati and Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath Swami Avimukteshwaranand also attended the event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former President Ram Nath Kovind, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, Union Minister Chirag Paswan, former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath, and Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Saturday arrived in Mumbai for the Shubh Aashirwad ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, and deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, too, attended the ceremony.

Anant, the younger son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and philanthropist Nita Ambani, married pharmaceutical heiress and childhood sweetheart Radhika Merchant at a star-studded event attended by celebrities from across the globe, politicians, who’s who of Hindi and south Indian cinema world and almost all the top cricketers of the country.

PM Narendra Modi gave a gift to newly wed Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. In the video, Anant is seen appreciating the gift with Radhika. The couple is then seen touching his feet. PM Modi then goes onto greet and give best wishes to the Ambanis, both Nita and Mukesh, and Merchants, Shaila and Viren. Nita and Mukesh Ambani gave a grand welcome to PM Modi. In another video, PM Modi was seen seated between Isha and Akash Ambani.

On Friday evening, the groom, dressed in a rust orange sherwani, set off from Antilia — the Ambani family residence — in a red car covered in strings of white flowers for the convention centre, where the baraat assembled for a short journey to the mandap.

Designer duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla’s pastel hues dominated the Ambani family’s attire and the dress code was followed by the guests as well.

The Ambani family is all set for the grand wedding of Mukesh and Nita Ambani’s youngest son Anant Ambani with Radhika Merchant, the younger daughter of Viren Merchant, CEO of Encore Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., and entrepreneur Shaila Merchant, on July 12.

The close-knit family, which is known for its traditional roots blended with modernity, will welcome VVIPs from the fields of business, politics and arts. The glittering ceremony will not just showcase the might of the Ambanis but also be witness to India’s burgeoning political and economic influence in the world.

• Dhirubhai Ambani & Kokilaben Ambani: Dhirubhai Ambani, founder and chairperson of Reliance Industries Limited, got married to Kokilaben Ambani in 1955. The couple had four children — Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani, Nina Ambani, and Dipti Ambani. In 1957, Dhirubhai returned to India and started a yarn trading business in Mumbai. He decided to hand over Reliance Industries Limited to his sons Mukesh and Anil after suffering from a stroke in 1996. On July 6, 2002, Dhirubhai Ambani died due to a major stroke.

• Mukesh Ambani & Nita Ambani: Mukesh Ambani is the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Limited. He married Nita Ambani in 1985. The couple has three children — Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani and Anant Ambani.

• Akash Ambani & Shloka Mehta: Akash Ambani serves as the chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm. He married Shloka Mehta, daughter of business tycoon Russel Mehta and Mona Mehta, in 2019. They couple are parents to Prithvi and Veda.

• Isha Ambani & Anand Piramal: Isha Ambani is part of the executive leadership teams as a Member of the Board at Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, Jio Financial Services Limited and Reliance Foundation (RF), Reliance Foundation Institution of Education and Research, and Dhirubhai Ambani International School. Isha Ambani married Anand Piramal, executive director of the Piramal Group, in 2018. The couple is parents to twins Krishna and Aadiya.

• Anant Ambani & Radhika Merchant: The couple of the moment, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, got engaged on December 29. The couple played host over several pre-wedding festivities such as the get-togethers in animal shelter Vantara, revelry at Antilia and traditional Gujarati ceremonies like Mameru and Gol Dhana.

• Anil Ambani & Tina Ambani: Anil Ambani, chairman of the Reliance ADA Group, married former Bollywood actress Tina Munim in 1991. Tina Munim serves as the Chairperson of Reliance Group, the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, the Harmony for Silvers Foundation, and the Harmony Art Foundation. They have two children — Jai Anmol Ambani and Jai Anshul Ambani.

• Nina Kothari: Anil and Mukesh’s sister Nina Kothari carved her own niche by becoming the Chairman of Kothari Sugars and Chemicals Limited. Her spouse, businessman Bhadrashyam Kothari, died of cancer in 2015. She has two children — Arjun and Nayantara Kothari.
