GVK Group forays into diagnostics & specialty care with…
The new venture is supported and funded by not-for-profit emergency services provider EMRI Green Health Services (formerly GVK EMRI), which manages the 108 emergency response services and is part of GVK Group.
A 25,000 sq ft pilot facility has already been rolled out at an investment of around Rs 40 crore in Jubilee Hills with plans to expand to more centres in Hyderabad before enhancing footprint through a similar format hubs in the state and country where EMRI already has a network across nearly 16 states, EMRI Green Health Services director Ramsekhar Manchikalapati said.
Since EMRI is a not-for-profit, it would not support GVK Health Hub not just in staying price competitive but also in providing facilities at subsidised costs to economically backward patients, he added.
GVK Health Hub medical director Dr N Ganapathi Sastry said the objective behind the facility is to fill the gap in providing quality healthcare services at affordable prices outside the tertiary hospital settings.
The hub is equipped with AI powered advanced diagnostics and radiology facilities along with a central lab, MRI, CT and ultrasound facilities. It also has specialty clinics for various ailments such as diabetes, ophthalmology, gynaecology, rheumatology and nephrology, among others, and offers daycare surgical procedures.
According to estimates, the Indian diagnostics marked was pegged at around US$13 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow to twice its current size by 2028. The space has players such Dr Lal Pathlabs, Tata 1MG, Thyrocare, Metropolis Healthcare, Vijaya Diagnostics, Quest Diagnostics, MedPlus Diagnostics, among others, in addition to hospital players such as Apollo Hospitals Enterprise and Max Healthcare.
GVK Group also has a presence in the contract discovery, development and manufacturing space with Aragen Lifesciences.
