As the guest of honour at the opening ceremony, Meryl Streep received the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival’s honorary Palme d’or.
Styled by Micaela Erlanger, celebrated actress Meryl Streep walked the 77th Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony red carpet in a timeless and chic haute couture white dress.
If you have to describe the most celebrated artiste Meryl Streep in two words, it would be – Elegant and Timeless. A global star known for her iconic work in films such as Julie & Julia, Devil Wears Prada, Mamma Mia, Out of Africa returned to the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival after 35 years and was awarded the festival’s honorary Palme d’or.
Meryl Streep received the Palme d’ or Lifetime Achievement award from French actress Juliette Binoche at the opening ceremony.
Walking the red carpet on the opening ceremony to attend the film screening of Le Deuxième Acte’s (The Second Act), Meryl Streep as guest of honour looked divine in custom Dior haute couture. The white silhouette was paired with statement pendant earrings by Hanut Singh from Fred Leighton jewellery adding a sparkle to her monochromatic elegant look. She completed her comfortably chic style with a Bella Rosa collection clutch.
Styled by celebrity fashion stylist Micaela Erlanger, the vision was to capture Meryl’s elegant personality. Speaking to News18 and describing Meryl’s look, Micaela Erlanger says, “I wanted the overall look to authentically represent Meryl’s grace, ease and timelessness. I think we captured that essence in the simplicity of this elegant look. The lifetime achievement honour is just that. Truly spectacular. And to be a part of this amazing moment for her was nothing short of incredible.”
Before making a statement on the red carpet, Meryl had a cool, chic fashion moment during a photocall at the Cannes Film Festival. Meryl looked iconic and stylish in a Michael Kors collection white crepe trouser suit paired with a striped LilySilk shirt.
Meryl completed the look with a navy satin Michael Kors collection clutch, Zameer Kassam earrings, Jimmy Choo shoes, Gigi Burris hat and Prada sunglasses.
Over the years, the colour white has played a special role in all her iconic red carpet moments. We hope we get to see Meryl create some more magic in the classic, divine shade.
The 77th Cannes Film Festival will be on till May 25. The opening ceremony was attended by Jane Fonda, Heidi Klum, Virginie Ledoyen, Greta Gerwig, Taylor Hill, Lily Gladstone, Eva Green, Farhana Bodi, Paola Turani, Wilma Elles, Kylie Verzosa among others.
